Come Join the Environmental Justice Fellows, Greater Newburgh Parks Conservancy, The Cary Institute and Scenic Hudson for our Second Annual BioBlitz from 10 - 12 p.m. on Saturday July 18th. We will work as Citizen Scientists identifying bird and animal species in the Park and reporting them on INaturalist app.
What: Explore Newburgh’s plants and wildlife with local stewards, scientists, and neighbors!
Join us for a group scavenger hunt — known as a Bioblitz — to identify plants, birds, pollinators, and other forms of life. We’ll Downing Park, a picturesque oasis in the heart of the City of Newburgh filled with rolling hills, groves of trees, and a rich history.
Your observations will contribute to the growing database of biodiversity (the variety of plants and animals) being gathered as part of the Defining Urban Biodiversity study in Kingston, Newburgh, and Poughkeepsie. You’ll also learn how to use the iNaturalist app to help you prepare for future community science events!
